[00:00:02] ALRIGHT, I'D LIKE TO CALL TO ORDER TONIGHT'S [ Agenda for the Emergency Communications District Meeting Monday, August 11, 2025 - 6:45 pm Brentwood City Hall] MEETING OF THE EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS DISTRICT. SO THE FIRST THING, OUR AGENDA TONIGHT IS THE ROLL CALL. I HAVE TO SAY THAT ALL THE COMMISSIONERS ARE PRESENT TONIGHT. NEXT THING IS THE, UH, APPROVAL OF MINUTES. MOVE TO APPROVE. OKAY, MOVE TO APPROVE THE MINUTES. I SECOND, SECOND. SECOND BY COMMISSIONER TRAVIS. PRIMARY MOTION BY, UH, VICE MAYOR. LITTLE. ANY COMMENTS ON THE MINUTES? CALL FOR THE VOTE. ALL IN FAVOR SAY AYE. AYE. ANY AGAINST, SAY NAY. I'M GONNA ABSTAIN. OH, ABSTAIN FROM COMMISSIONER ABSTAIN AND, UH, COMMISSIONER GOERS. OKAY. SO FIVE IN FAVOR. NONE OPPOSED. AND, UH, COMMISSIONERS DONAHUE AND GARRA. UH, ABSTAIN. SO NOW WE HAVE COMMENTS FROM CITIZENS. PUBLIC COMMENTS WILL BE ALLOWED DURING THE DESIGNATED TIME ON THE AGENDA. UPON BEING RECOGNIZED BY THE CHAIR, ANY PERSON WISHING TO SPEAK SHALL STATE HIS NAME AND ADDRESS FOR THE BOARD AND THE SIGN IN SHEET HAS BEEN PROVIDED. UH, CHIEF, DO HAVE ANYONE SIGNED IN? NO. OKAY. NO ONE TO SIGN FOR THE ECD MEETING. ANYONE TO COMMENT? YOU DON'T HAVE TO SIGN IN TO SPEAK ANYBODY. GOING ONCE, GOING TWICE. SOLD, UH, REPORTS. WE HAVE THE ECD QUARTERLY FINANCIAL REPORT. SO, IS THAT JASON? MANAGER G. AND ACTUALLY I SEE YOU GOING, I I NEED TO DO THIS. ALRIGHT. THANK YOU . MAKE SURE I'M ON. OKAY. UH, YEAH, I'LL TURN IT OVER TO OUR FINANCE FOLKS AND OR, AND, OR KATHLEEN IF YOU WANNA GO AHEAD AND SUMMARIZE THAT. BUT WE DO HAVE THE FULL FINANCIAL REPORT IN THE, UH, PACKET FOR YOU. AND I, I WILL SAY, JUST TO SUMMARIZE THE UH, UH, BASIC INFORMATION THAT WE'RE ABOUT WHERE WE WERE LAST YEAR WE'RE 120, ABOUT 121% HIGHER IN REVENUE. UH, LAST YEAR WE WERE PUSHING IN ABOUT THE SAME. UH, AND THEN WE'RE ABOUT 89% OF EX ON EXPENSES AND WE WERE ABOUT THE SAME LAST YEAR. SO VERY CONSISTENT, NO SURPRISES AND ALL SOLID. DON'T SEE IF ANYONE ELSE WOULD LIKE TO ADD ANYTHING TO THAT SHOULD COVER IT. VERY GOOD. SO, REPORT NUMBER TWO, THE STATUS REPORT FROM OUR ECD SUPERVISOR. KATHLEEN, GOOD EVENING MAYOR AND VICE MAYOR AND COMMISSIONERS. IT'S NICE TO MEET ALL OF YOU NEW COMMISSIONERS. AND MS. DUNN, I'M SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. UM, I WILL, UM, JUST BE VERY BRIEF THIS EVENING. SO REGARDING STAFFING, WE ARE FULLY STAFFED IN DISPATCH. THIS IS A HAPPY DAY FOR US. UM, I WOULD'VE NORMALLY BROUGHT OUR NEWEST DISPATCHER TO INTRODUCE HER TO YOU, BUT SHE'S ATTENDING THE, UH, PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATOR COURSE UP AT WILLIAMSON COUNTY, AND THAT'S ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF LONG COURSE. UM, AND SO SHE WAS UNABLE TO ATTEND. UM, BUT OUR, UM, OUR EMPLOYEES RANGE FROM 30 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE TO TWO MONTHS OF EXPERIENCE. SO HOPEFULLY WE WILL BE ABLE TO KEEP OUR, UH, NEWEST DISPATCHER AND OUR STAFFING THE WAY IT IS. UM, THIS WEEKEND, I'M HAPPY TO SAY THAT, UM, SOME OF YOU MAY REMEMBER, UM, STEVE MARTINI, WHO HELD MY POSITION BEFORE I GOT HIRED WITH THE CITY. UM, AND HE WENT ON TO WILLIAMSON COUNTY TO BE THE DIRECTOR THERE. AND THEN ON TO, UM, METRO NASHVILLE DEPARTMENT OF EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS. AND HE ASKED IF IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE FOR US. HE'S ALSO THE PRESIDENT OF APCO, WHICH IS, UM, A PUBLIC SAFETY ORGANIZATION. AND HE ASKED IF IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE TO, UM, FOR US TO HOST, UM, A REPRESENTATIVE. AND I DON'T WANNA MISPRONOUNCE THIS GENTLEMAN'S NAME, BUT I'M GONNA JUST SAY THAT HE IS, UM, FROM THE ARAB UNIVERSITY FOR SECURITY SERVICES IN SAUDI ARABIA. UM, AND HE IS RIGHT NOW IN WASHINGTON DC AND STEVE HAD ASKED IF IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE FOR US TO GIVE HIM A CHORE OF OUR FACILITY, WHICH WE'RE ALWAYS HAPPY TO DO. UM, BECAUSE HE'S LEARNING ABOUT HOW, I'M ASSUMING HE, IT IS A, HE I'M, I APOLOGIZE. BUT HE IS, UM, LEARNING ABOUT, UM, DISPATCH CENTERS, LARGE, SMALLER, AND THEN MEDIUM SIZED DISPATCH CENTERS. SO STEVE IS FACILITATING, UM, A TOUR WITH HIM TO COME TO BRENTWOOD AND PROBABLY, I WOULD IMAGINE WITH METRO NASHVILLE AS WELL. SO THAT'S GONNA HAPPEN THIS WEEKEND. UNFORTUNATELY, I'M UNABLE TO ATTEND THAT. I HAVE PRIOR ENGAGEMENT. UM, AND SO OUR LEAD DISPATCHER, JASON BROWN, WILL BE PROVIDING THAT TOUR, UM, TO OUR FRIENDS FROM SAUDI ARABIA. UH, SO THAT'S HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND. AND, UM, WE ARE DOING, UH, MOTOROLA IS GETTING READY FOR A MAJOR UPGRADE TO OUR RADIO SYSTEM, UM, WHICH YOU ARE AWARE OF THAT WE PARTNER WITH. UM, WE HAVE A JOINT COMMUNICATION WITH, UM, WILLIAMSON COUNTY AND WITH METRO, AND THEY'RE GONNA BE PREPARING [00:05:01] FOR A BIG RADIO UPGRADE. SO FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS THEY'LL BE DOING THE PREP WORK FOR THAT. IT SHOULD NOT, WE SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY DOWNTIME. UH, THEY DON'T ANTICIPATE ANY DOWNTIME DURING THE PREP WORK. AND THEN, UM, FOR TWO WEEKS THEY'LL BE DOING ALL THE UPGRADES TO OUR SYSTEM. SO, UM, OTHER THAN THAT, IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, I'M HAPPY TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS. OTHER THAN THAT, IF NOT, I WILL SAY GOODNIGHT. YES, MA'AM. I, I JUST WANNA MAKE A COMMENT, UM, LOOKING AT YOUR STATISTICS MM-HMM . I AM AMAZED AT THE TIMES THAT YOU ALL KEEP, I MEAN, ANSWERING ON AVERAGE FIRST RING THREE SECONDS. CORRECT. AFTER THE CALL CONNECTS IS FROM SOMEBODY THAT DEALS WITH A LOT OF HOSPITAL, TRYING TO GET PEOPLE THROUGH HOSPITAL ANSWERING SYSTEMS. UH, THESE ARE IMPRESSIVE, VERY IMPRESSIVE STATISTICS. AND HOW FAST, UH, THAT YOU, YOU AND HOW YOU CONSISTENTLY MEET THE GOAL MM-HMM . OF 90 SECONDS OR LESS FROM THE CALL TO THE DISPATCH OF MEDICAL AID? YES MA'AM. AND SO I JUST WANNA LET YOU KNOW THIS IS AN AMAZING YES MA'AM. SET OF STATISTICS. WE'RE, WE'RE PROUD OF THAT. AND THE DISPATCHERS ARE, THEY'RE VERY QUICK AT ANSWERING THOSE PHONE CALLS. SOME OF THEM WILL SAY, IF YOU GIMME A MINUTE, I'LL GET TO THAT FIRST, THEN THEY'LL BE FIGHTING OVER WHO'S GONNA GET IT FIRST. SO . SO IT'S AMAZING THAT THEY CAN ANSWER IT AS QUICKLY AS THEY DO. BUT YEAH, WE'RE PROUD OF THAT. THANK YOU FOR NOTICING THAT. VERY GOOD. OKAY, WELL THANK YOU VERY MUCH. YOU'RE WELCOME. FOR ALL YOU DO. YOU'RE WELCOME. THANK YOU. ALRIGHT, SO NEW BUSINESS. WE'VE GOT THE BRENTWOOD EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS DISTRICT QUARTERLY MEETING. SO IS THERE, I MEAN, THIS IS IT, RIGHT? SO THIS IS, UH, SO IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE WE NEED? BOX. ALRIGHT, SO THE BOX IS CHECKED. UH, DO WE HAVE ANY OLD BUSINESS OR ANY OTHER NEW BUSINESS BEFORE THE, UM, BEFORE THE ECD? DO WE HAVE A MOTION TO ADJOURN? SO MOVED. SECOND MOTION BY COMMISSIONER TIPPEN, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER DONAHUE. ALL IN FAVOR? AYE. AYE. AYE. WE ADJOURNED. * This transcript was created by voice-to-text technology.
