UH, AND I AM HERE TONIGHT WITH OUR LEADERSHIP, BRENTWOOD, UH, TEAM REPRESENTATIVES, UH, DURING THE PROJECT YEAR, UH, LEADERSHIP BRENTWOOD, WHICH IS THE NONPROFIT ARM, EXCUSE ME, OF OF THE WILLIAMSON INC.
UH, EACH TEAM, UH, DURING THE PROGRAM YEAR WILL, UH, PERFORM PROJECTS, UH, RELATED TO COMMUNITY.
SO THIS YEAR WE HAVE THREE WONDERFUL PROJECTS THAT WERE COMPLETED IN APRIL, AND I'D LIKE FOR THEM TO COME FORWARD AND TELL YOU ABOUT THE PROJECTS.
I AM GINA LEVEL AND I AM AT ONE 10 LEWISBURG AVENUE IN FRANKLIN.
AND, UM, I WORK FOR A COMPANY CALLED BANK CARD.
AND THIS YEAR I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO BE ON TEAM SHAKE AND BAKE WITH LEADERSHIP BRENTWOOD.
UM, WHAT WE DECIDED TO DO WAS A PROJECT FOR THE TENNESSEE BAPTIST CHILDREN'S HOME.
WE ALL KNOW HOW AMAZING IT IS, AND THEY HAVE A LOT OF CHAOS AROUND THERE RIGHT NOW WITH CONSTRUCTION.
AND SO WE LOOKED AT THEIR OUTDOOR SPACE, THEIR POOL AREA, AND THEIR PAVILION, AND IT NEEDED A LITTLE BIT OF WORK, AND THEY HAD SOME ALSO SPECIAL REQUESTS.
SO WE PROVIDED FOR THEM SOME POOL FURNITURE.
WE PROVIDED FOR THEM SOME UMBRELLAS WITH HEAVY WEIGHTED BASES THAT WOULD STAY PUT.
WE DID, THEY, THEIR POOL HOUSE HAD SOME ROTTEN AREAS THAT WE WERE ABLE TO REPLACE AND RESTAIN, AND THEN WE WERE ABLE TO, WITH THEIR PAVILION, COMPLETELY RESTAIN THE ENTIRE THING.
AND JUST FOR FUN, WE WENT AHEAD AND PUT IN A BASKETBALL GOAL FOR THE POOL AREA AND HOPES THAT THE KIDDOS AND THE ADULTS WOULD HAVE JUST A REALLY FUN, NICE PLACE TO ENJOY FOR THE SUMMER.
SO WE DID A LOT OF FUNDRAISING EFFORTS.
ACTUALLY EVERYBODY IN OUR TEAM CONTRIBUTED FINANCIALLY, UM, TO THE PROJECT.
AND THEN WE HAD DONATIONS FROM HARDAWAY CONSTRUCTION AND FROM BANK CARD TO COMPLETE THE PROJECT.
WE, AFTER ALL OF OUR BILLS WERE PAID, WE WERE ABLE TO ALSO MAKE A SMALL DONATION TO THE TENNESSEE BAPTIST CHILDREN'S HOME.

WE FOUND AN AREA IN THE BACK THAT'S GOT BOTH A PATIO AND A WINDOW.
SO DEPENDING ON THE WEATHER, INDIVIDUALS CAN LOOK OUT AND SEE THE BIRDS.

UM, IT WAS A MUCH ANTICIPATED CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.
UH, THE BOYS LACROSSE TEAM DEFEATED THE DIVISION TWO STATE CHAMPS, UM, WITH A NOLANSVILLE HIGH BY A FINAL SCORE OF SIX TO FOUR.
UM, THIS BRENTWOOD LACROSSE TEAM HAD THE NUMBER ONE STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE AMONGST OUR PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS IN THE STATE OF TENNESSEE.
THEY FINISHED THE SEASON OVERALL NINE AND NINE WITH NINE AND TWO IN LEAGUE PLAY.
UM, THE TWO LEAGUE LOSSES THIS YEAR WERE TO FRANKLIN AND NOLANSVILLE.
UM, AND BOTH OF THOSE TEAMS WERE THE TEAMS THAT WE FACED AND DEFEATED IN THE PLAYOFFS TO WIN THE STATE TITLE.

TONIGHT, I'M FEELING VERY DISAPPOINTED, SAD, AND CONFUSED AS TO WHY THE CITY COUNCIL FEELS THE NEED TO IMMEDIATELY SPEND OVER $600,000 ON AN ENGINEERING STUDY AND THEN ANOTHER $10 MILLION OF TAXPAYER MONEY FOR PHASE ONE OF THIS PROJECT.
I KNOW THAT SOME OF YOUR RESPONSES WILL BE WELL, LIZ, WE'VE STUDIED THIS FOR A YEAR, COMMISSIONER COMMISSIONERS.
I HAVE ONLY SEEN ONE PROPOSAL THAT IS ALL OLD.
SMYRNA ROAD IS A HISTORIC CORRIDOR AND ONE OF THE LAST TRULY SPECIAL HISTORIC ROADS IN BRENTWOOD AND IN WILLIAMSON COUNTY.
IT IS A SPECIAL ROAD AND NEEDS TO BE PRESERVED AT ALL COSTS, NOT JUST TURNED INTO ANOTHER MUNDANE SUBURBAN ROAD THAT COMMUTERS FROM NEIGHBORING COUNTIES USE AS A CUT THROUGH TO THEIR NEXT, NEXT DESTINATION.
PRESERVING A HISTORIC CORRIDOR TAKES SPECIAL PLANNING, RESEARCH STUDIES AND COLLABORATION WITH PRESERVATION GROUPS.
IT TAKES EXTRA EFFORT ON EVERYONE'S PART.
JUST AS A REMINDER, UM, OLD SMYRNA ROAD BEGAN AS A NATIVE AMERICAN TRAIL.
IT WAS THE SIDE OF THE OLD MAYFIELD FORT, THE FIRST TRADING POST IN THE AREA WHERE THERE WAS A MILL AND A GENERAL STORE.
THE OLD SMYRNA ROAD METHODIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH FOUNDED IN THE 1830S WAS ON OUR ROAD.
THE SNEAD HOME, THE FROST HOME FOX VIEW FARM AND WINDY HILL ARE ALL HISTORICAL LANDMARKS CURRENTLY LOCATED ON OUR ROAD.
OLD SMYRNA ROAD ALSO HAS SEVERAL HISTORICAL CEMETERIES.
HOW MANY OTHER ROADS IN BRENTWOOD HAVE THIS MUCH HISTORY? I WOULD DARE SAY EXTREMELY FEW TO NONE.
THIS ROAD DESERVES MORE TIME AND MORE ATTENTION THAN IT HAS BEEN GIVEN.
AS CITIZENS OF BRENTWOOD, WE HAVE TO MAINTAIN WHAT MAKES US SPECIAL.
WE HAVE TO PRESERVE WHAT MAKES US

OUR ROAD HAS HAD CLOSURES FROM THE END OF MAY THAT WILL LAST UNTIL THE END OF JUNE.
AND GUESS WHAT? EVERYONE HAS FOUND ANOTHER WAY TO GET WHERE THEY'RE GOING.
THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER TIMES IN THE PAST WHERE THE CITY COMMISSION HAS STUDIED ENGINEERING FOR MODIFICATIONS TO THE ROAD.
AT ONE POINT, THE CITY WANTED TO ADJUST THE ROAD FOR A CUT THROUGH TO EDMONDSON PIKE.
AND AT ANOTHER POINT, AN UH, EXIT OFF THE INTERSTATE WAS ADDRESSED TO OLD SMYRNA ROAD.
THOSE CITY COMMISSIONERS DID THE RIGHT THING AND DID NOT DESTROY THE INTEGRITY OF THIS ROAD.
MY HUSBAND AND I CHOSE TO LIVE ON THIS ROAD BECAUSE OF THESE QUALITIES.
THE QUAINTNESS THE COUNTRY FEEL THE HISTORICAL CHARACTER.
IF THAT $10 MILLION OF TAXPAYER MONEY IS BURNING A HOLE IN YOUR POCKET, I HAVE A FEW SUGGESTIONS FOR YOU.
NUMBER ONE, LET'S COMPLETE AN ARCHEOLOGICAL STUDY IMMEDIATELY AT THE FUTURE WINDY HILL PARK AND THE LAND AROUND OLD SMYRNA ROAD.
NUMBER TWO, LET'S WORK WITH PRESERVATIONIST TO NOT ONLY MAINTAIN OLD SMYRNA ROAD, BUT MAKE IT THE CROWN JEWEL OF BRENTWOOD AND WILLIAMSON COUNTY.
AGAIN, PRESERVING OUR HISTORY IS WHAT MAKES BRENTWOOD SPECIAL.
NUMBER THREE, BUY THE SNEAD HOME, THE OLDEST HOME IN BRENTWOOD.
THIS COULD BE A WONDERFUL EXAMPLE OF PRESERVATION.
THE CITY HAS DONE THIS BEFORE WITH THE RAVENSWOOD HOUSE AND THE COOL SPRINGS HOUSE.
NUMBER FOUR, LET'S STUDY OTHER TOWN SOLUTION TO PERVER PRESERVING HISTORY WHILE EXPERIENCING GROWTH.
THERE ARE MANY CITIES THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THESE SAME PROBLEMS AND THEY HAVE DONE BEAUTIFUL JOBS PRESERVING HISTORIC CORRIDORS.
THE CITY OF BRENTWOOD COULD LEARN FROM THEM.
WITHOUT THIS ROAD OLD SMYRNA ROAD, THERE WOULD BE NO BRENTWOOD.

UM, SECOND CONCERN I HAVE IS HOW IN THE WORLD HAVE WE ALREADY JUMPED ALL THE WAY TO PAYING FOR ENGINEERING FOR OPTION ONE ONLY? UM, I DON'T LOVE OPTION ONE OR OPTION TWO TO BE HONEST WITH YOU.
I THINK THERE'S A BETTER OPTION THREE THAT'S A LOT LESS EXPENSIVE.
UM, BUT WHAT DOES OPTION TWO COST? I'VE HEARD OPTION ONE'S $10 MILLION PLUS ANOTHER 600,000 IN ENGINEERING.
WHAT DOES OPTION TWO COST? UM, HAVE NO IDEA.

HOLIDAY SEASON IS TOUGH FOR A LOT OF CITIZENS AND PROBABLY DIDN'T GET OUT TO TALK AND THEY WANTED TO.
UM, THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE PUBLIC MEETINGS ON RES STRIPING ROADS IN THE PAST, UH, THAT DIDN'T COST 10 MILLION BUCKS TO STRIFE THE ROADS.

UM, AND AS I SAID, JOHNSON CHAPEL ROAD SHARES A LOT OF THE SAME ISSUES THAT OLD SMYRNA ROAD DOES.
WHY AREN'T WE TALKING ABOUT ALSO FIXING JOHNSON CHAPEL ROAD AT THIS MOMENT? UM, LAST, OKAY, YOU'RE WORRIED ABOUT LAWSUITS.
WHY HAVE SCHOOL BUSES BEEN COMING DOWN THIS ROAD? YOU'RE PUTTING YOUR CHILDREN ON SCHOOL, BUSES ON THIS ROAD THAT YOU'RE WORRIED ABOUT GETTING SUED ON.
I MEAN, IT KIND OF GOES TO SHOW YOU THAT IT'S NOT THAT UNSAFE.
WHAT ABOUT LOWERING THE SPEED LIMIT FROM 30 TO 25? TERING A COUPLE OF SHOULDERS THAT YOU GET IN NORTHEASTERN TOWNS OR ALL OVER EUROPE WHERE ROADS HAVE EXISTED FOR MUCH LONGER THAN BRENTWOOD HAS EXISTED.

AND THE BUDGET HEAD ONE TIME REFLECTED THIS CONTINUING THAT SIDEWALK TO CONCORD ROAD WILL CONNECT THE EXISTING PATHWAY ON FRANKLIN ROAD THAT LEADS TO FRANKLIN.
AND THEN I CAN ACTUALLY RIDE MY BIKE TO FRANKLIN AND IT WILL ALSO BE ONE STEP CLOSER TO GETTING OVER TO 65 SAFELY.

SO, UH, I, I DON'T AGREE AT ALL WITH HIS CHARACTERIZATION OF OF MY COMMENTS.
I THINK, UH, THE THINGS I'VE PUT, UH, BOTH VERBALLY AND UM, AND MY NEWSLETTER ARE OBSERVABLY CORRECT AND DOCUMENTED.

UM, AND YOU KNOW, WITH THE HAMMONDS IN PARTICULAR, I'M, I'M, I'M SORRY.
I FEEL LIKE YOU DIDN'T HAVE THE, YOU KNOW, THE, LIKE THE FINANCIAL INFORMATION, SOME, THE DESIGN INFORMATION.
UM, YOU KNOW, THEY DID ACTUALLY TALK ABOUT THE COST OF THE DIFFERENT OPTIONS THAT THE MEETING LAST SEPTEMBER.
UM, FOR EXAMPLE, PHASE ONE THEY SAID WAS ESTIMATED AND FAIRLY CONSERVATIVELY AT, AT ABOUT $9.6 MILLION CAN RUN IT UP TO 10.
THEY DID SAY THAT THE OPTION TWO, WHICH WOULD BE TO TAKE THE EXISTING ROAD BED AND TO MAKE IT SAFE, WOULD BE A 50% LARGER EXPENSE.
AND UM, SO IF YOU DO THE, THE MATH ON THAT, THAT TAKES IT FROM 9.6 MILLION TO A 14.4 MILLION.
SO, AND THE, THEY, AND THEY TALKED ACTUALLY PRETTY EXTENSIVELY IN THE MEETING LAST SEPTEMBER AND THEN ALSO IN THE, THE BRIEFING LAST THURSDAY.
SOME OF THE REASONS FOR THAT, AND, AND, AND FRANKLY FOR A LONG TIME AS WE'VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT OLD SMYRNA ROAD AND HAVE CHOSEN NOT TO DO ANYTHING TO IT, IS BECAUSE OF THE DRAINAGE DITCHES AND THE WALLS AND THE TREES.
AND IF YOU GO THROUGH AND TRY TO ADD, 'CAUSE A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE SAID, WHY DON'T YOU JUST PUT SIX INCHES ON EACH SIDE OR A FOOT ON EACH SIDE.
AND WITH THE ENGINEERS CAME BACK AND ACTUALLY DICKIE UH, SULLIVAN ADDRESSED THIS IN THE MEETING WHEN HE'S TALKING ABOUT IF YOU PUT IN SAY, CURB AND GUTTER, THEN YOU HAVE TO PUT IN STORM SEWERS AND IT BECOMES, YOU KNOW, THAT'S WHAT DRIVES THAT 50% GREATER COST.
BUT ALSO WHEN YOU TAKE THAT ROAD AND DO IT THAT WAY, AND EVEN IF YOU WERE TO DO SOME OF THE THINGS LIKE ALL SUGGESTED FROM WHAT THE ENGINEERS ARE SAYING, AS YOU GET THE, THE WATER CONTROL AND THE STORM DRAINAGE AND STUFF IN THERE, YOU END UP IN THE ROOT SYSTEMS OF ALL THOSE TREES, UM,

WE TALKED ABOUT DRAINAGE, WE SPOKE ABOUT COST, WE SPOKE ABOUT A LOT OF DIFFERENT THINGS.
AND THE, THE, THE ALTERNATE A WAS ESSENTIALLY TAKING THAT PRE THE PRESERVATIONIST APPROACH AND TAKING THE, THE EXISTING ROAD BED IN THAT AREA AND THE ROCK WALLS AND THE TREES AND THAT BELOVED LOOK AND KEEPING IT, YOU KNOW, SETTING IT ASIDE AS A, AS ESSENTIALLY A WALKING PEDESTRIAN TRAIL TO HELP CONNECT WINDY HILL PARK.
SO WITH, UH, THE BEST OF INTENTIONS COMING THROUGH THAT, THAT MEETING WITH A PRESERVATIONIST PERSPECTIVE, THAT SEEMED TO BE THE BEST WAY TO GO THROUGH AND SAVE WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT OLD SMYRNA ROAD.
AND THEN LOOKING AT THE, THE THINGS I'LL BRING UP WITH EASEMENTS AND RIGHT OF WAY AND OTHER STUFF, YOU KNOW, WHAT I UNDERSTAND FROM THE CITY STAFF IN ENGINEERING IS THEY'VE BEEN ACCUMULATING EASEMENTS FOR, UH, THE ROAD TO THE NORTH OF THE EXISTING ROAD IN A WAY THAT IT'S ALREADY BEEN LARGELY ACQUIRED, IF NOT ALMOST ENTIRELY FOR THE, FOR THE PHASE ONE.
SO THAT'S BEEN TAKING INTO ACCOUNT IN THERE.
UM, YOU KNOW, I, I UNDERSTAND THAT WE'D LOVE TO JUST BE ABLE TO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING.
AND THAT HAS BEEN THE SOLUTION FOR A LONG TIME.
BUT PORTIONS OF THE ROAD APPEAR TO BE DETERIORATING AND ACTUALLY FALLING INTO THE DRAINER DITCHES.
WE'VE BEEN SEEING MORE ACCIDENTS.
UM, SO JUST FROM, YOU KNOW, THE, FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF SAFETY, FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF BEING GOOD STEWARDS, FROM A PRE PRESERVATIONIST PERSPECTIVE, LOOKING AT IT, IT SEEMS TO BE A GOOD QUALITY COMPROMISE, YOU KNOW, IN TERMS OF TRYING TO GO THROUGH AND HONOR PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHTS, TRYING TO HONOR SAFETY, TRYING TO HONOR PRESERVATIONISM AND, AND TRYING TO BE GOOD STEWARDS OF TAXPAYER MONEY.
SO I UNDERSTAND HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT IT.
I DON'T THINK THE STAFF OR THE COMMISSION TAKES IT LIGHTLY.

AND JUST A WONDERFUL GROUP OF PEOPLE.

THAT HISTORIC ASPECTS OF THE ROAD WERE SUPER IMPORTANT TO ME.

NOW, I KNOW THAT ONE OF THE SUGGESTIONS WAS TO HAVE PULL OFF AREAS WHERE A CAR COULD PULL OFF AND LET A WIDER CAR GO BY.
IF I TRUSTED DRIVERS MORE, I MIGHT THINK THAT WOULD WORK.
BUT I'VE SEEN WHEN LANES MERGE DRIVERS FIGHTING IT OUT TO SEE WHO CAN BE FIRST.

JUST BECAUSE IT'S, UH, BEAUTIFUL AND TREE LINED DOESN'T MEAN THERE ARE NOT A LOT OF CARS GOING DOWN THERE.

AND I THINK THIS IS PROBABLY THE FIRST TIME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO VOTE AGAINST YOUR WISHES.

AND I THINK IT'S SOMETHING THAT'S NEEDED AND IT, IT SADDENS ME IF WE DON'T GO ON AND DO THIS, IT'LL BE ANOTHER WAY TO CONNECT THE EAST AND WEST FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN, FOR TEENAGERS, FOR PEOPLE WHO JUST WANNA TAKE A LEISURELY WALK OR THOSE WHO ARE AVID HIKERS OR BIKERS OR RUNNERS.

THERE WAS A FEW YEARS AGO, NOT THAT LONG AGO, I'M 62, BUT AS A YOUNG ADULT, WILSON PIKE LOOKED LIKE OLD SMYRNA ROAD AND, AND SO DID PORTIONS OF EDMONDSON PIKE, SUNSET, MANY OTHER ROADS IN BRENTWOOD.
BUT AS WE'VE HAD GROWTH, THOSE HAVE CHANGED.
UH, THERE WAS A SUBDIVISION THAT WAS APPROVED JUST A VERY FEW YEARS AGO, IT WAS CALLED HARLAN.
UH, WHEN THAT WAS APPROVED, I REALIZED THAT THOSE 20 HOUSES AND THEN THE SUBSEQUENT SUBDIVISIONS THAT WILL BE COMING ALONG IN THERE WE'RE GONNA PUT MORE BURDENS ON THAT ROAD.
IT WAS NOT GONNA STAY THE, THE, THE RURAL ENVIRONMENT THAT IT HAD BEEN.
AND I VOTED AGAINST THAT PROPERTY AND SUBDIVISION PARTLY BECAUSE OF THE TECHNICALITY HAVING TO DO WITH R TWO AND, AND JUST DIFFERENT THINGS THAT I WON'T GO INTO, BUT PARTLY BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT THAT ROAD CHANGED BUT ONCE THAT WAS DONE AND I KNEW WHAT WAS COMING ALONG OLD SMYRNA ROAD, I HAVE AN OBLIGATION.
I HAVE A LOT OF WEIGHT THAT SITS ON MY SHOULDERS AS A COMMISSIONER, AND I FEEL THAT WEIGHT.
AND WHEN I KNOW THERE'S A SITUATION THAT'S NOT GOOD AND NOT SAFE TO NOT ACT IS DERELICTION OF DUTY.
NOW, I KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE SAY DAVIDSON COUNTY RESIDENTS DO THAT BECAUSE I LIVE IN FAR EAST BRENTWOOD AND BECAUSE MY SHOP IS ON CHURCH STREET EAST, I USED THAT THOROUGHFARE QUITE A BIT, HAVE NO PROBLEM USING THAT THOROUGHFARE.
MY FAMILY'S USED THAT THOROUGHFARE FOR ALMOST 220 SOMETHING YEARS.
THAT'S WHY I KNEW IT WAS ORIGINALLY A WAGON TRAIL BECAUSE WHEN I WAS A KID, I HAD FAMILY MEMBERS THAT BY GOD'S GRACE, HAD LIVED LONG ENOUGH TO REMEMBER WHEN THAT WAS A WAGON TRAIL, WHEN THE ONLY CARS, YOU PRETTY MUCH COULD BUY AN AMERICAN UNLESS YOU WERE EXTREMELY WEALTHY AND COULD OWN A EUROPEAN ONE, WAS A MODEL T FORD.
AND THEY WEREN'T REAL RELIABLE.
IN FACT, MOST PEOPLE FELT THEIR MULES AND HORSES WERE

AND I JUST FEEL LIKE, AS A COMMISSIONER, MY RESPONSIBILITY IS TO INVESTIGATE.
AND ENGINEERS ARE VERY GOOD AND THEY'RE HIGHLY PAID PROFESSIONALS AND THEIR STUDIES ARE EXPENSIVE.
AND THERE USED TO BE AN OLD SAND IN BRENTWOOD WHEN IT WAS COUNTRY.
SO $600,000 FOR AN ENGINEERING STUDY IS ON A ROAD THAT WILL BE AS COMPLEX AS THAT ONE WILL BE TO ME, IS A GOOD INVESTMENT BECAUSE WE MAY GET TO THE END OF IT AND FIND THAT THAT'S NOT GONNA WORK.
OR WE MAY COME UP WITH ANOTHER SOLUTION.
UH, I KNOW SULLIVAN HAS DONE MANY ENGINEERING STUDIES FOR THE CITY OF BRENTWOOD.

WE'RE TALKING ABOUT, UH, BUILDING A ROAD FOR 10 MILLION AND A SIDEWALK FOR THREE AND A HALF.
SO JUST SO YOU KNOW, THAT'S THE BALANCE ON THAT.
AND, UM, THE, THE, THE CULTURE OF OUR COMMISSION IS THAT WE DON'T TAKE LAND FROM A PROPERTY OWNER, UM, IF WE DON'T HAVE TO.
AND WE DON'T WANT TO EVER DO THAT FOR A SIDEWALK.
AND THIS SIDEWALK, THE POTENTIAL MAY RUN THROUGH SEVERAL PEOPLE, DIFFERENT PEOPLE'S PROPERTY, AND WE MIGHT HAVE TO TAKE THEIR LAND IF THEY'RE NOT WILLING TO SELL IT TO US.

WHERE WE DO HAVE A COST ESTIMATE ON THAT, THERE HAVE BEEN A NUMBER OF QUESTIONS THAT HAVE COME UP FROM EMAILS FROM SOME DIFFERENT FOLKS, AND THE VAST MAJORITY OF THOSE QUESTIONS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED, AND THE ONES THAT WEREN'T ANSWERED WERE THE ONES THAT WOULD REQUIRE THIS ENGINEERING STUDY TO ANSWER.
SO I MEAN, IN, IN TERMS OF SLOW WALKING THIS, GIVEN THE ACCIDENT NUMBERS FROM THE ROAD AND GIVEN THE SAFETY CONCERNS AND FRANKLY JUST THE DETERIORATION OF IT, I, I DON'T SEE THE VALUE IN PUTTING IT OFF TILL JANUARY.

IF WE DO THE OPTION OF THE NON-LINEAR PARK OPTION WHERE WE WERE TO TURN THE CURRENT OLD SIMONA ROAD INTO ONE EASTBOUND LANE, THEN THE ENGINEER HAS SAID THAT THE STANDARD WOULD BE TO PUT IN A 12 FOOT WIDE LANE, BUT THEN THERE'S NOT ENOUGH PAVEMENT ON EACH SIDE OF THAT LANE, UM, FOR A FOOT FOUR FOOT SHOULDERS.

UH, IF IT'S IN YOUR BACKYARD, YOUR VOICE IS THE LOUDEST, UH, AND THAT MATTERS THE MOST.
SO THIS DEFERRAL, UH, TO JANUARY OF 2025 IS NOTHING ABOUT OTHER THAN GIVING US THE TIME TO LOOK AT OTHER OPTIONS AND NOT HAVE AN ARTIFICIAL DEADLINE HERE.
SO, MAYOR, JUST TO BE VERY CLEAR, COULD I SAY SOMETHING ELSE? COMMISSIONER DUNN? YES.
SOME PEOPLE TONIGHT ARE MAKING STATEMENTS LIKE, THIS IS THE FIRST TIME YOU'VE EVER LOOKED AT THIS INFORMATION.

SOMETIMES YOU HAVE ENOUGH INFORMATION.
WE'VE HAD THOSE CARDS THAT YOU READ TONIGHT FROM THE RESIDENTS.
